Accelerated Adoption Project
Project overview
Project Funder: Soil CRC
Project Lead Organisation/Researcher: Southern Farming Systems (SFS), represented by Mr Bret Ryan.
Project Durations: August 2024 – December 2026
Project Location: Across Australia
Aim
To develop and validate a framework that accelerates the translation of Soil CRC research into practical on-ground adoption by farmers.
Background
The Soil CRC generates a large volume of research outputs, however a key challenge is ensuring these findings are effectively translated into practical outcomes that farmers can adopt.
This project focuses on improving how research is packaged, communicated and delivered to end users. It brings together Farming Systems Groups, researchers and industry partners to identify the most effective pathways for extension and adoption.
A central component of the project is the development of an “accelerator” framework that categorises research outputs into three pathways:
Novel innovations that require further development through an incubation process
Ready-to-adopt practices that can be delivered through targeted extension
General knowledge that can be communicated broadly to industry
The project also includes an incubator-style process to support promising research outputs in progressing towards practical application, as well as improved extension strategies aligned with farmer learning preferences.
By testing and refining this framework across multiple Farming Systems Groups, the project aims to create a repeatable model that improves adoption of research outcomes and maximises the impact of Soil CRC investments.
Partnership
This project is a collaboration between Soil CRC and Farming Systems Groups across Australia, including Central West Farming Systems, supported by university researchers and industry partners.
Partners include: West Midlands Group, Charles Sturt University, Central West Farming Systems, Birchip Cropping Group, Burdekin Productivity Services.
